Memorial Day Weekend 2024 at Miramar National Cemetery: Remembering the 80th Anniversary of D-Day

USS Midway Museum invites community members aboard the USS Midway during Memorial Day weekend for Legacy Week 2024, Friday to Monday, May 24 to 27, to experience events that are sure to create lasting memories while paying tribute to our heroes. Miramar National Cemetery invites community member to gather on Sunday, May 26, at 1 p.m., at the Miramar National Cemetery Amphitheater for a special program to honor and remember over 1.2 million American men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country.

At Miramar National Cemetery, there are over 30,000 veterans and their families interred. While on the hallowed grounds, attendees will be able to visit the Memorial Walkway, POW Liberation Memorial, and Veterans Tribute Tower and Carillon.

Several local WWII D-Day Veterans will be in attendance.

Speakers include Dr. Gregory A. Daddis, U.S. Army (Ret.), Director of the SDSU Center of War and Society, and Consul General of France Julie Duhaut-Bedos.
