Zoom Recording Update: The Zoom Recording of the April UCPG Planning Group meeting is now available.

For those interested in the Costa Verde project update, the 20-minute Information Item presentation about the Costa Verde project at Nobel and Genesee is available at approximately 20 minutes into the Zoom recording. Please note that more detail on the project site will be presented at the May UCPG Planning Group meeting.

From UCPG (Planning Group) Chair Chris Nielsen: I’ve attached the UCPG agenda for Tuesday, April 8, 6 PM meeting. This will be a hybrid meeting, in person and on Zoom.  Zoom instructions are to be found on the agenda and at the end of this post. I hope to see you all on Tuesday. Agenda available here: 2025_04_08_Agenda_UC

We welcome new and returning board members.  Everyone on the board will need to take the COW (Community Orientation Workshop) training online in roughly mid-May, exact date to be announced.  An online version afterwards will also serve for training.

We’ll be electing UCPG officers at this meeting: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Membership Secretary.

There are three information items on the agenda this month:

Item #7 Information Item: The new development team for the Genesee & Nobel site, formerly known as the Costa Verde mall, will be making a short presentation to introduce themselves to the UCPG board and public.  They will comment about concepts and goals for the site and answer a limited number of questions.  Due to item #10, the Sorrento-Miramar double-tracking project, tonight’s presentation will serve as a quick introduction with a more substantial item in May.  I’ll try to have additional material prior to the meeting.

Item #8 Information Item: Pure Water Construction Project update.

Item #10 Information Item: Sorrento – Miramar Double-Tracking Project.  The project, owned by LOSSAN, proposes to double-track the segment of rail line between Sorrento Valley and Miramar.  This is a complex proposal that involves exchanging land with the City of San Diego, some of which is MHPA, with significant biological disturbance to the MHPA. Presentation available here: SANDAG SM2 UCPG Meeting PPT (3-11-25)
