From UCPG (Planning Group) Chair Chris Nielsen: I’ve attached the UCPG agenda for Tuesday, April 8, 6 PM meeting. This will be a hybrid meeting, in person and on Zoom. Zoom instructions are to be found on the agenda and at the end of this post. I hope to see you all on Tuesday. Agenda available here: 2025_04_08_Agenda_UC
We welcome new and returning board members. Everyone on the board will need to take the COW (Community Orientation Workshop) training online in roughly mid-May, exact date to be announced. An online version afterwards will also serve for training.
We’ll be electing UCPG officers at this meeting: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Membership Secretary.
There are three information items on the agenda this month:
Item #7 Information Item: The new development team for the Genesee & Nobel site, formerly known as the Costa Verde mall, will be making a short presentation to introduce themselves to the UCPG board and public. They will comment about concepts and goals for the site and answer a limited number of questions. Due to item #10, the Sorrento-Miramar double-tracking project, tonight’s presentation will serve as a quick introduction with a more substantial item in May. I’ll try to have additional material prior to the meeting.
Item #8 Information Item: Pure Water Construction Project update.
Item #10 Information Item: Sorrento – Miramar Double-Tracking Project. The project, owned by LOSSAN, proposes to double-track the segment of rail line between Sorrento Valley and Miramar. This is a complex proposal that involves exchanging land with the City of San Diego, some of which is MHPA, with significant biological disturbance to the MHPA.
