From Pure Water San Diego: Throughout the spring, construction crews will continue work in the University City area as part of the Morena Northern Pipelines and Tunnels project. Activities will include carrier pipe installation on Genesee Avenue at Decoro Street, the north and south shaft at Rose Canyon, and at Marian Bear Park. Tunneling at I-805 will also continue throughout the spring.
*To reduce traffic impacts to the community, intersection work at Genesee Avenue and Nobel Drive has been postponed until carrier pipe south of the intersection is installed and current work areas on Genesee Avenue between Governor Drive and Nobel Drive have been reduced.
As of February 2025, over six miles of pipeline and over a quarter-mile of tunnel have been installed. Construction notices are shared online at UTC.PureWaterSD.org. For any questions,
