During April 2025, crews will begin 72 hours of work to excavate and install pipeline and a sewer bypass across Genesee Avenue from Marian Bear Park.
Construction Notice Genesee and SR 52
Friday, April 11 at 7pm: There will be a closure on Genesee Ave. between the westbound and eastbound SR-52 ramps for work at Marian Bear Park. The closure is currently scheduled to begin Friday, April 11 at 7pm and last for 72 hours.
Why? Crews will install pipeline and a sewer bypass across Genesee Ave.
The details:
- Genesee Avenue between the SR-52 West and SR-52 East ramps will be closed:
- Traffic on northbound Genesee Avenue will be directed to SR-52 East and detoured to the Nobel Drive exit off I-805 North.
- Traffic on southbound Genesee Avenue will be directed to SR-52 West and detoured to Regents Road.
- Southbound Genesee Avenue will reopen once the sewer bypass is installed.
- During the work, flaggers will be onsite to assist motorists, cyclists and pedestrians when needed.
- Pipeline and sewer bypass installation across Genesee Avenue from Marian Bear Park:
- Excavation, sewer bypass, and pipeline installation is expected to take 72 hours. Crews will work 24 hours per day in split shifts, work is expected to be completed April 2025.
- Prior to the beginning of work, message boards will be placed at Governor Drive and Appleton Street to alert traffic to the upcoming closure. In coordination with Caltrans, detour signs will be placed on SR-52 and I-805 to direct traffic.
- Once April dates are finalized, construction notices will be shared online at UTC.PureWaterSD.org.
