The last Summer Concert is traditionally when University City Community Association thanks its volunteers. This year UCCA recognized and thankd Don Hotz for his many years as the Newsletter Distribution Coordinator (6,000 copies) and UCCA board member, which also included many years as UCCA Treasurer.

Using his creative talents, Don also helped produce a video to accompany the song “More than just a Neighborhood” that was voluntarily written by Greg Zinser and Tom Ventimiglia. Don was also active with the University City Community Foundation, helping get much needed improvements at Marcy Park.

That’s Don in the center of the attached photo with Marc Schaeffer (community representative for State Senator Brian Jones) who presented Don with a Certificate of Appreciation, and UCCA President Jemma Samala.

UCCA additionally thanked the over 100 volunteers that deliver newsletters, the numerous Neighborhood Watch captains, plus the UCCA board and committee members (some of whom are pictured in the attached photo.

If you see a University City volunteer delivering newsletters, and keeping the neighborhood safe and clean, and participating in community events, remember to thank them for all they do, and for keeping University City more than just a neighborhood.

UCCA is always looking for volunteers, including residents to distribute the newsletters. If you would like to become a community volunteer, contact us at: universitycitynews@gmail.com
