Lucky Pup Dog Rescue Opens in UC; submitted by founders Christine and Steve Haslet:

The dust has settled in the little cottage next to Sprouts grocery store but the adventure may be just beginning for many Southern California homeless rescue dogs.

Last month, we opened Lucky Pup Dog Rescue in the UC Marketplace as San Diego’s first retail adoption center for shelter dogs. Not only did the UC Marketplace Shopping Center management and owners welcome Lucky Pup rescue with open arms, but the entire neighborhood has embraced us as well. Thank you, University City.

The dogs we rescue come from some of the highest kill shelters around California. It’s always been our goal to increase adoptions by putting a new twist on the way rescue dogs are seen by the community. Knowing that many people aren’t comfortable with the shelter setting, we are happy to be showing the “adoptables” in a healthy, happy, homey environment.

Our hours are a bit limited right now until we increase the number of volunteers. Currently, we are open Wednesday, 1-4 PM, Saturday, 10-2 PM and Sunday, 1-5 PM. We can always arrange a showing by appointment.

Lucky Pup Costume ContestLucky Pup will be holding our 4th annual Halloween Doggy Costume fundraiser at the Mission Brewery, on Thursday, October 22, from 6-9 PM, sponsored by “Hearts of San Diego” and Earthwise Pet Supply. Tickets are $10 to $15. Please visit the Lucky Pup website at LuckyPupDogRescue.com for the “Upcoming Events” details. Lucky Pup Dog Rescue is a 501c3 non profit neighborhood charity and charitable donations are tax deductible.
