Tuesday, October 11, 6 PM, via Zoom: From UCPG Chair Chris Nielsen: I’ve attached the agenda for the UCPG meeting on Tuesday October 11, 2022, at 6PM to be held by zoom; 2022_10_11_Agenda_UC. We have minutes to approve from the September 13, 2022, meeting; 2022_09_13_UCPG_Minutes_DRAFT. Here is a summary of the items on this month’s agenda:
Item 7: This action item is required to hold the November 8, 2022, UCPG meeting by zoom. It is also election day.
Note: The next two agenda items are Wireless Control Facility projects. Per Federal, state, and city regulations, “health concerns” and “radiative energy concerns” are not a basis for deciding to approve or reject an applicant’s project. If you wish to make a statement using either of these arguments, you can make a two-minute public comment prior to the presentation for item 7 and/or the presentation for item 8.
Item 8: The applicant is seeking a recommendation of approval for a new wireless control facility to replace an existing WCF of the same height. A process 2 Neighborhood Development Permit is needed since the size of the associated equipment is 360 square feet, exceeding the city limit of 250 square feet. A process 4 Planned Development Permit is required as the facility height of 43 feet exceeds the city’s 30’ height limit for equipment. The presentation: VZW Regents PTS 664166 CPG Presentation 10-11-2022 – LR
Item 9: The applicant is seeking a recommendation of approval for a new wireless control facility on the roof of the Palisades residential tower at UTC. A Neighborhood Use Permit is required in commercial or industrial zones on a premises containing residential or mixed-use Development. The presentation: DISH Wireless SDSAN00474C – 8800 Lombard Place – LR
Item 10: I will give an overview of the final provisions governing Community Planning Groups that the City Council passed on September 13. These new rules take effect in January 2024. We will discuss the timetable for making changes to our bylaws. The city has not yet produced a new “Terms and Conditions” template reflecting the new rules. I will be consulting other planning groups and CPC at this month’s meeting to see how others are planning to proceed.

We’re calling it a Community Chat Meet-Up. Join friends and neighbors and University City Community Association for an informal, in-person, no agenda, Community Chat Meet Up on Wednesday, October 12, from 5:45 to 7 PM at the University Community Library, 4155 Governor Drive.
Meet up to see friends and neighbors, for networking, to learn more about what’s going on in University City, to hear more about UCCA and upcoming events, and to renew your UCCA membership.
