UC San Diego (UCSD) announces that construction of the Theatre District Living and Learning Neighborhood will begin on January 4, 2021, and continue through the opening of the neighborhood in the fall of 2023. The Theatre District Living and Learning Neighborhood includes five buildings adjacent to UC San Diego’s Joan and Irwin Jacobs Theatre District (at intersection of Torrey Pines Road and La Jolla Village Drive) that will provide new housing for undergraduate students, academic and meeting spaces, restaurants and retail space. Design features include pedestrian and bicycle improvements, a significant amount of open space and outdoor gathering areas, and underground parking (an increase of more than 300 parking spaces from the existing two lots, P102 and P103).
