After nearly 10 wonderful years at Congregation Beth Israel in University City, we’re bringing the same good friends and caring staff to our beautiful Jewish Family Service campus on Balboa in Kearny Mesa.
In its new location, the Balboa Older Adult Center will continue to fill a critical need in our community with its focus on serving individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), including those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and other dementias, with activities that engage the mind, body, and soul.
Open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 AM to 2 PM. Current visitors, as well as new participants living in the surrounding areas, can access door-to-door transportation via JFS’s On the Go service. Details can be found at www.jfssd.org/baoac.
The Older Adult Center is a place for older adults to:
- Exercise your body with activities like yoga, dancing, and chair aerobics.
- Stimulate your mind with classic games, lively discussions, and guest speakers.
- Sing and dance to live music and entertainment.
- Dine on a nutritious kosher lunch, made-from-scratch in our onsite Loonin Family Kitchen.
- Rediscover former hobbies and spark new interests with four hours of meaningful and engaging activities.
The Balboa Older Adult Center is a place for family and caregivers to enjoy respite, stay for activities and lunch, take part in our bi-monthly Support and Discussion Group for caregivers (conducted in partnership with Alzheimer’s San Diego), and connect to a broad range of services offered through JFS.
Feel like this could be the place for you? Let us treat you to lunch. To schedule a visit for yourself or a loved one, ask questions, or find our more, call Aviva at (858) 550-5998.
