Artist Susan Zoccola has been selected by the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture to create permanent public artwork for University City’s next fire station (Fire Station No. 50) to be built at Nobel Drive and Shoreline Drive.
- On Tuesday, August 9 from 6 – 7 PM at the North University Community Branch Library, 8820 Judicial Drive, you are invited to share your knowledge and input about the community’s history, character, ecology, legends, folklore and anecdotes.
- Let Susan know anything else that will benefit her understanding of University City and San Diego, in order to create a public art proposal. Snacks will be provided.
- On Wednesday, August 10 from 4 – 5:30 PM during a hike through Rose Canyon Open Space Park, you are also invited to join Susan to share anything that will benefit her understanding of University City and San Diego.
- Meet at the intersection of Regents Road and Lahitte Court, on the south side of Rose Canyon. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water.
The Commission for Arts and Culture has set up an online survey so that members of the community can share their knowledge about University City with the artist, even if they are unable to attend the events. The deadline for survey response is August 28.
