Sat Dec 14, 10 AM to 1 PM: Food Drive to Benefit Residents at Rose Canyon Safe Parking

Share

Food Drive on Saturday, December 14, from 10 AM to 1 PM, at Standley Park Recreation Center, 3585 Governor Drive, Parking Lot

From Rita Shafer, JFS Volunteer: Your help is needed for a food drive for our unhoused neighbors and families at the Rose Canyon Safe Parking Lot.

We are asking for kid-friendly donations of nonperishable foods such as:

  • Cereal Boxes, Noodles, Oatmeal Packs, and Bread
  • Snack Bars, Fruit Cups, Fruit Juice, Peanut Butter, and Jelly
  • Canned Meats, Hearty Soups, Mac and Cheese Cups, Pasta and Spaghetti Sauce

Community volunteers will be in the Standley Recreation Center parking lot on Saturday, December 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accept food (and/or cash) donations and will provide receipts for tax purposes.

University City residents volunteer through Jewish Family Services (JFS) to provide supplemental food support during the winter holidays. The Rose Canyon Safe Parking Lot program is managed by JFS to help families with children who need a safe place to sleep at night.

Most the parents at the lot work but have not been able to secure affordable housing. The children attend school in our area. These are our neighbors who need a hand up.

Thank you for joining us in making a difference. For more information, please contact Rita Shafer at: shafer.lily@yahoo.com
