The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a red flag fire warning for much of San Diego County effective Wednesday and Thursday.
In a video statement issued November 5, 2024 by the NWS: Santa Ana winds develop Wednesday morning and become locally strong. Due to high winds and very low humidity, the fire weather conditions become critical. The wind and dry air continue into Thursday but then winds fade Thursday night and Friday. Cool nights and warmer days for the weekend.

Please note: Santa Ana wind conditions (when winds are blowing east to west), may result in aircraft arriving at Miramar MCAS (Joe Foss Field) Airport to approach and land from west to east; and to depart from west to east.
This is opposite the customary approach and departure procedures. This may result in an increase in flights over the community areas surrounding the airfield. This will continue until wind conditions change.
