A message from the University City Fire Safe Council: Each year, daylight saving time starts on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November. In San Diego, daylight saving time will end on Sunday, November 3 and that’s the date to set your clocks back an hour.
It’s also a perfect day to focus on safety.
- Check both your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to make sure they are operating properly. Consider replacing with newer models such as a smoke detector with a 10-year battery.
- Purge your medicine cabinet of unused and expired medications and check with your pharmacy for proper disposal.
- Get your vehicle ready for the darker days of winter by checking that your headlights and wiper blades are working properly.
- Take extra precautions as a pedestrian or cyclist by wearing bright, reflective clothing, using bike lights, and sticking to protected sidewalks, crosswalks, and bike lanes whenever possible.
