From UCCA’s President Jemma Samala: Wow – I can’t believe it’s summer already! Many of us will be going on vacations, I was lucky to enjoy a recent Caribbean vacation where I read five books! With having time to relax, I was invigorated when I returned, especially having my wonderful neighbors come chat with me at my recent Open Hours at Starbucks. I hope you can join me next time. Check out the Save the Date list below for all the details.
These summer months bring some of my most favorite memories of our community. We have the UC Celebration, I especially love the pancake and sausage breakfast and looking for books; Summer Concerts, where we get to see and picnic with neighbors (some have the courage to get up and dance); Summer Movies at local parks, especially when I sang along with Mamma Mia; and the yummy Banana Split Day, which the Heimberger Family has been donating the ice cream for over 40 years!
These community traditions are why I tell people we live in the best neighborhood of San Diego, and why many of us never plan to leave. I’ll have to build that Granny Flat for myself, and let the kids and grandkids move in. Enjoy your UC summer, and say hi to me at the UC Celebration and Summer Concerts.
