Monday, May 15: Towne Centre Drive Pipeline Work to Begin for the Morena Northern Pipelines and Tunnels Project
On Monday, May 15, pipeline construction will begin on southbound Towne Centre Drive south of the Executive Drive intersection as part of the Morena Northern Pipelines and Tunnels project in University City. Crews will move block-by-block on southbound Towne Centre Drive. The Towne Centre Drive and Executive Drive intersection will reopen to traffic prior to the start of pipeline work on Towne Centre Drive.
Work is scheduled to occur during the day, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and occasionally on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Work hours in front of the Devonshire I or Devonshire II driveways are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic control will be set up on Friday, May 12. Crews are expected to cross the northern driveway on Tuesday, May 16, or Wednesday, May 17.

Late June 2023: Construction Scheduled in La Jolla Village Drive and Towne Centre Drive Intersection
In late June 2023, construction will begin in the Towne Centre Drive and La Jolla Village Drive intersection as part of the City of San Diego Morena Northern Pipelines and Tunnels project in University City.
For public and construction crew safety, and for construction efficiency, the intersection construction will include two phases and lanes will be shifted around the construction zone in each phase to maintain two-way traffic on La Jolla Village Drive at all times. Construction will occur 24 hours a day.
Construction will be phased over approximately two weeks, starting with the north side of the intersection, followed by the south side of the intersection. For access to businesses on southbound Towne Centre Drive, north of La Jolla Village Drive, please use Executive Drive. For access to businesses on southbound Towne Centre Drive, south of La Jolla Village Drive, please use Nobel Drive.
A notice with further schedule information will be provided. Please plan extra time when traveling on La Jolla Village Drive or Towne Centre Drive or avoid the intersection. If possible, please use Interstate 5 to access University City instead of Interstate 805. The City and project team are committed to completing construction through the intersection as efficiently as possible, and the community’s patience and coordination are appreciated.
