From UCPG (Planning Group) Chair Chris Nielsen: The UCPG will be meeting on May 9, 2023, at the Alexandria GradLabs building on the third floor Terra Nova conference room at 9880 Campus Pointe Drive at 6PM. The agenda is very full this month.

This is again a hybrid meeting, both in-person and on zoom. As a reminder, UCPG board members need to be present in-person to participate as board members but may attend remotely as a member of the public.  Community members are encouraged to join the meeting remotely if it is more convenient, particularly since this is likely to be a long meeting. Our thanks to Alexandria for providing the meeting room that permits both an in-person and zoom meeting.

The complete agenda is available for download at: 2023_05_09_Agenda_UC

The Agenda Highlights include:

Meeting minutes from March 14, 2023:  These minutes have been revised based on the comments received at the April meeting.  Please review and suggest any changes: 2023_03_14_UCPG_Minutes_Draft

Meeting minutes from April 11, 2023:  These minutes are quite extensive due to the presentation of the Discussion Draft of the Community Plan Update during this meeting.  Please review and suggest any changes: 2023_04_11_UCPG_Minutes_Draft   IF substantial changes are received by me or given at the meeting, I’ll defer approval until the June UCPG meeting.

We have Sarah Bowles from Pure Water giving an update on local construction impacts of the project in our area.  I understand there are substantial impacts to discuss this month.  If you have questions about the overall Pure Water project, please direct them by email to sbowles@sandiego.gov.  The presenters will not be able to answer these questions tonight.  If you have a comment regarding the overall Pure Water project, you may give it later during agenda item #6, Public Comment. Information about Pure Water University City: https://www.sandiego.gov/public-utilities/sustainability/pure-water-sd/phase-1-projects/university-city-eastgate-mall

Item #7: This is an information item given by UC San Diego regarding a project in their Science Research Park, located on the east campus.  UC San Diego requests that the UCPG give the design team input prior to the start of the design phase, particularly regarding the interface of this proposed project with the existing neighborhood on the east side of Regents Road.  Feedback for the design team may be given at this meeting or sent to Anu Delouri at adelouri@ucsd.edu.

Item #8: This is an action item for a sign project on behalf of the La Jolla Commons development at 4727 Executive Drive given by Jones Sign and American Asset Trust.  John Hadaya, Jones Sign, with Jerry Gammieri, American Assets Trust, and Steve Center, American Assets Trust, will present. The attached presentation is for your review:  La Jolla Commons_NUP_Community Planning Group Presentation_Opt2_UCPG

Item #9: This is an action item by Bridgewest Group for their 11011 Torreyana Road development.  We heard an information item regarding this project on March 14, 2023.  Even Wilson, Bridgewest Group will present. The attached presentation is for your review: Bridgewest_Group_2023-05-04_11011Torreyana_emailsize

Item #10: This is an information item on “Rapid 41 Bus” / “Bus Route 41 Next Gen”.  As the name suggests, this service would run between Fashion Valley and UC San Diego/UTC.  SANDAG has had scoping and public input meetings for this route that I have attended, and I’m pleased they are here tonight to give a presentation of the proposal to the Planning Group.  Zaccary Brandt and Brian Lane, SANDAG, will present.

Item #11: This is an information item on a new Alexandria project called “One Alexandria Square – 7” consisting of the demo of two buildings and the construction of one building 10975 – 10995 Torreyana Road, with Mike D’Ambrosia presenting.

Item #12: This is an information item given by Alexandria describing their Genesee Ave / Campus Pointe Drive mobility initiatives.  This is a follow up presentation to the information item Alexandria gave last year to the UCPG on this subject.  Chris Clement will present.  The attached presentation is for your review: Alexandria RE – 23_0504_CP Mobility Initiative_UCPG_r1
