Help Wanted: Post Office seeks Local Artists to Design a Postmark Stamp for University City’s Date Meets Zip

Share

On Wednesday, September 21, 2022 (9-21-22), the University City Post Office will commemorate a once-a-century alignment of the date on the calendar – 9-21-22 — with its ZIP Code — 92122.

The alignment of calendar dates with ZIP Codes occurs only once a century and in relatively few locations nationwide. The alignment will be marked by the sale of special commemorative envelopes at the University City Post Office that feature a “92122 Date Meets ZIP” postmark. The special postmark will also be available at that office to cancel mailable items presented by customers.

Save the Date because University City residents are invited to visit the University City Post Office (3298 Governor Drive) on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 to enjoy refreshments, obtain the commemorative cancellation and to purchase the special envelopes, which will be available while supplies last.

Meanwhile, the US Postal Service is soliciting artwork from local designers for consideration as the actual pictorial cancellation image for the event.

See attached image for ideas created for Date Meets Zip events. The submitted artwork must be 3” horizontal by 2” vertical and include the following elements:

  •  “University City Station” or “University City STA”
  •  The date of the event: “Sept 21 2022”
  •  The location: “San Diego, CA 92122”
  •  The words “Date Meets Zip Station”

Submissions of artwork with the completed form USPS Postmark Artwork Submission Form – (ARTIST)_Form Release and Indemnification for Pictorial Postmark should be emailed to SanDiegoCRC@usps.gov . Entries will be accepted until August 31, 2022.

Any questions can be directed to Customer Relations at SanDiegoCRC@usps.gov.
