As published in the February 2020 University City News print newsletter, District 1 Updates from Council President Pro Tem Barbara Bry:

MCAS Miramar Letter: I am cognizant of the tragedy that has and continues to affect the UC community and I am committed to doing everything in my power to prevent another aircraft disaster. Part of that commitment is holding the federal administration accountable to existing FAA and DoD flight procedures.

On January 13, 2020, my office sent a second letter to Colonel Dockery and Congressman Peters to request that MCAS Miramar Air Traffic Controllers and pilots follow existing procedures. These measures were intentionally designed to avoid direct overhead flights of most residences and schools in University City. Thank you to those who have contacted my office to report violations.

Please know that I will continue to convey your concerns to both MCAS and our congressional representative. To obtain a full copy of the letter, contact my UC representative, Justine Murray, at JRMurray@sandiego.gov.
