Courtesy of Barb Nielsen, News 8 Archives Editor/TV News: I started the News 8 Throwback project July of 2018. Each week I pick a theme and find at least 4 stories related to it. I am a video editor and I’ve worked at News 8 for 30 years — so I know the archives extensively. Now we have almost 500 videos posted on our YouTube channel. It is an absolute blast from the past and such a privilege to be able to do it. My partner on the digital side is Jen Lothspeich. She writes the articles for digital but I also write for on air and for some of the YouTube stories. In addition to weekly themes, I post videos of anniversary stories and recurring events like December Nights.
