Information from the Union-Tribune: Hundreds of students are preparing to walk out of high school on Friday as part of international campaign for climate action. High school students and others from across San Diego County are preparing to join the international climate strike on Friday, September 20, in what promises to be the largest event of its kind in the region’s history. There are youth-led walkouts planned across the United States, with Swedish teenage and climate activist Greta Thunberg leading the way in New York City. Events are also planned all over South America, Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe.

Students are advised to check with school administration for necessary permissions and/or authorizations to participate. In the University City area, participating schools include:

  • University City High School Walkout, Friday, September 20, 2019 beginning at 11:35 AM.
  • La Jolla Country Day School Climate Strike, Friday, September 20, 2019 beginning at 12:15 PM.
