Union Tribune: John Lee Evans won’t pursue another San Diego school board term

San Diego Unified School Board Vice President John Lee Evans announced Monday that he won’t seek a fourth term in next year’s election. Evans, 66, said he believes the school board has made significant progress on most of the goals it set when he started on the board about a decade ago. “Nobody can stay in a position forever and I was just going to leave when I felt like the reforms would carry on,” he said by phone.

Evans was first elected to the school board in 2008 and represents District A, which includes Mira Mesa, University City, Clairemont and Madison high schools.
