Standley Park Recreation Council (SPRC) is pleased to submit an application for a 2019-2020 Community Enhancement Program grant requesting funds to support Summer events at Standley Park (4th of July UC Celebration and seven Summer Concerts) and the Old Town Trolley bus on Governor Drive for UC Celebration.
Our volunteer organization, Standley Park Recreation Council, was founded as a 501c3 charity in 2006 and registered in 2007. SPRC provides sponsorship and support for many community recreation activities in the parks of University City, especially at Standley Park, notably the 4th of July Celebration and the Summer Concerts.
Please note that as of July 1, 2018, the City of San Diego’s Parks and Recreation Department, under the direction of the San Diego City Attorney, formally separated the Standley Park Recreation Council from the City’s Recreation Advisory Group. As of July 1, 2018, the Standley Park Recreation Council is operating as a separate entity and there is no co-mingling of Council funds with City funds.
A 2019-2020 Community Enhancement Program grant award will enhance our abilities to support our purpose to provide community recreation programs. We look forward to a partnership with Supervisor Kristin Gaspar and the San Diego Board of Supervisors to enhance community recreation in University City.
