Update: No sonic boom heard in University City; but many photos courtesy of Richard Ho, taken on Galloway Drive, which capture the initial launch, main engine cut off, and second stage start. About the final photo in the series, shown at the lower right, Richard says, “See a little dot flaring below the cloud as the rocket goes back to Vandenberg!”

Team Vandenberg is scheduled to support launch of the SAOCOM 1A satellite on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex-4E on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 7:21 p.m. PDT. Area residents may experience a sonic boom. Falcon 9 and SAOCOM 1A are vertical on SpaceX’s launch pad at Vandenberg AFB. Following today’s launch at 7:21 p.m. PDT, SpaceX will attempt to land Falcon 9’s first stage on Landing Zone 4. Webcast starts ~15 minutes before liftoff →
