Holiday closure: Library will be closed on Friday/Saturday, March 30/31, in observance of Cesar Chavez’s birthday. Book drops remain open and available on holidays. This branch closed on Sundays. 

Programming for Adults

  • Adult Writers’ Group – Meet with other beginning writers in a supportive environment—share your writing, positively critique others’ work and hear from guest writers. Thursday, March 1 @ 1:30 p.m.
  • Concert: Finnegan Blue – This group strives to capture the essence of folk/Irish/rock music by performing high energy original music by sibling duo Anna Lee and Willie Fleming. Songs such as “Rye Whiskey”, “Come Follow Me” and “San Francisco” are crowd favorites that are upbeat and engage the audience. Wednesday, March 7 @ 6:30 p.m.
  • Jewelry Making, take home something you made yourself! Make your own earrings and/or other pieces of jewelry with an experienced crafter. Space is limited, please call (858)552-1655 to RSVP. Friday, March 9 @ 10:00 a.m. & Noon.
  • Accordion Club meets the second and fourth Saturday of each month. All are welcome! Saturday, March 10 & 24 @ 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • University City Community Association (UCCA) – This is a community meeting featuring updates from law enforcement, fire-rescue service, legislative and other community leaders. All are welcome.  Wednesday, March 14 @ 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
  • Women Artists – Julia Pfister, MFA, looks at the work of well-known and less-recognized female artists. She discusses traditional oil paintings and sculpture as well as textile art such as embroidery and quilting that has not received as much attention. Thursday, March 15 @ 1:00  – 2:30 p.m.
  • Senior Scam Stopper, a free seminar is hosted by Assemblymember Todd Gloria and the Contractors State License Board. For more information or to RSVP contact the office of Assemblymember Todd Gloria at (619)645-3090. Friday, March 16 @ 11:00 – 1:00 p.m.
  • UC Book Club will be discussing Sandcastle Girls by Chris Bohjalian. Wednesday, March 28 @ 2:00 p.m.

Programming for Children

  • Preschool Storytime for Kids; stories, crafts, finger plays and songs. Every Thursday @ 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Makerspace Craft Station available in the Children’s Area with a different craft each week. All week long (Monday – Saturday).
  • Live! Homework Help – A volunteer will be at the library to help with homework. Available till May 4, 2017. Tuesday @ 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Magician Amazing Dana and his laugh-out-loud magic show. Wednesday, March 21 @ 2:00 – 2:30 p.m.

Programming for Tweens/Teens 

  • Video Game Fridays, Wii gaming with your friends, Get your game on! Every Friday @ 3:00 p.m.
  • Girls Who Code Club – These are programs for 6th to 12th grade girls to explore coding in a fun and friendly way. Space is limited, please call (858)552-1655 to RSVP. Tuesday, March 6, 13 & 27 @ 3:45 – 4:45 p.m.
  • Teen Tech Week – Build LED lights using a small battery and different color LED lights.  Wednesday, March 7 @ 2:00 p.m.
  • LEGO Club – Come build anything you can image with LEGO. Wednesday, March 14 @ 2:00 p.m.
  • ThoughtSTEM is back again with more coding for kids. Space is limited, please call (858)552-1655 to RSVP. Tuesday, March 20 @ 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
