The University City girls fast pitch softball league, UC Del Sol, is a small league that fields about 12 teams per season typically ranging from the 6U through 12U divisions. This year, the league was able to field a 14U team, which is a first for the league in recent history.

The 14U team, Aftershock, had an amazing season and was reclassified by USA Softball from “C” league to “B” league! As a small league, the UC Del Sol Aftershock were surprised to be reclassified from C to B and even further surprised when they qualified for the States tournament, and finally given an invitation to the highest level of play for this division of softball, the Western National Championships.

The team enjoyed competing in the tournament in Sacramento the first week of August thanks to the generosity of the University City community members and local businesses who helped fund the team’s travel expenses for the Western National Championships. UC Del Sol thanks everyone who donated, supported their concession stand at the concerts in the park, and to the local businesses who sponsored the team.

The team would like to recognize and thank Round Table Pizza, Mission Bay Sports Center, Shell University City Service Center, Nancy Beck – Century 21, Charlie Rose, OEX Point Loma, Christian Bros Emergency Building Services, DryBar La Jolla, Lorna’s Italian Kitchen, and Dixieline.
