The year is 2017 and a lot has changed during the last 29 years in University City since our University City neighbors and friends organized the first UC 4th of July Celebration at Standley Park. While the UC Celebration “Oh Say Can U.C.” is steeped in tradition, it’s also an evolving Celebration of America’s Independence Day and life in University City.
This year, please consider this:
- The Fun Run and 5K Race is a time to share quality time with family and friends while getting some early morning exercise and log additional steps on your activity counter.
- The Pancake Breakfast is the perfect opportunity to share a meal with neighbors.
- A Bike and Pet parade … what’s more American than that?
- A marching band, presentation of the flag, opening remarks, and the Star Spangled Banner? Yep, the Celebration at Standley Park is the place.
- Family field games, kids area activities, free swim, a beer garden and a playground? Something for all ages!
- A car show … organized by the UC Cars and Coffee group … is a new addition to this year’s Celebration. Show off your vehicle and admire the handiwork and restoration efforts of your neighbors.
- Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Customer (B2C) networking? Yes, it’s also at the UC Celebration for those who rent and/or visit the many booths showcasing area businesses, service providers, and volunteer organizations, all of whom make University City more than a neighborhood.
- Music and entertainment? Yes, and the Celebration ends with a concert on the lawn of Standley Park from 5 to 7 PM.
- Volunteers? Hundreds of volunteers make it all possible. Neighbors helping neighbors; it’s an American and University City tradition.
Truly, something for everyone this year at the UC 4th of July Celebration. Oh Say, Can U.C.?
If you are a business owner or operator in the University City community, this message is for you: Connect with other businesses and customers at the UC 4th of July Celebration when you rent and/or visit the many booths showcasing area businesses, service providers, and volunteer organizations, all of whom make University City more than a neighborhood.
