Events for Adults/Seniors

Hatha Yoga, Mondays at 12:00 noon, This Hatha Yoga class uses postures and stretches in combination with the breath to increase flexibility and relaxation. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat or floor towel.

*NEW* Chess Club, Mondays at 3:00 p.m., Casual public chess meet open to all ages and skill levels.

Gentle Yoga, Fridays at 10:00 a.m., Learn basic yoga techniques, perfect for beginners, expectant mothers, seniors and persons with disabilities. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat or floor towel.

Knitters’ Circle, Thursday, June 1 & 15 at 1:00 p.m., All yarn enthusiasts are welcome.

Small Business Assistance, Wednesday, June 14 & 28 at 11:30 a.m., Dr. Adolpho Sanchez offers help in navigating the process to starting a business. Appointments available by calling the library.

Job Help Assistance, Wednesday, June 14 & 28 at 3:30 pm, Dr. Adolpho Sanchez offers help with resume writing and job searching. Appointments available by calling the library.

Page Turners Book Club, Wednesday, June 14 at 6:00 p.m., Page Turners will be discussing The China Mirage by James Bradley.

Fiction Fanatics Book Club, Saturday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m., Fiction Fanatics will be discussing The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman.

Meditate with Meeta, Sundays, June 11 & 25 at 12 noon, 20 minute guided meditation followed by tea.

A Cup of Creation: Art Classes for Adults, Sunday, June 11 at 1:00 pm, Each class will utilize a different art technique to inspire the creation of unique pieces. Participants are asked to bring a small sketchbook to class; all other supplies provided.

Cinema Café, Wednesday, June 21 at 6:00 pm, Enjoy refreshments while watching and discussing a thought-provoking movie. Please call the library for the month’s selected feature.

 Events for Children/Families

Babies and Books, Mondays at 10:00 a.m.; Friday June 2, 16, 30 at 10:00 a.m., This lap-sit storytime will introduce a love for books by using song, movement, rhythm and rhyme. Recommended age: Birth – 2 years.

Music and Movement, Mondays at 11:00 a.m. at the Nobel Recreation Center, Sing, Dance and Play! Children enjoy songs and movement activities that build motor skills and increase independence.

Kids’ Art Studio, Wednesdays at 12:00 noon, A fun art project every week! No registration required. Recommended for grades K-6.

Preschool Storytime, Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. (no storytime June 1), Stories and songs in English promote early literacy skills.

Fun with French, Thursdays at 11:15 a.m., Explore the French language through song in this bilingual program.

Russian Handwriting Class, Saturdays at 12:00 noon, Learn to write typing and classic Russian scripts.

Besos de Coco Family Concert, Saturday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m., Through the unique instrumentation of classical guitar and vocals, double bass and tap dance that mimics the role of percussion, Besos de Coco examines rhythmic cultures from all over the world. Students are engaged through audience participation using body percussion, singing and “scatting”.

LEGO Club, Tuesday, June 6, 20, 27 at 3:00 p.m., Make new friends and build amazing creations every week.

Sign Language Storytime, Thursday, June 8 at 12 noon, Baby Sign Language Basics author, Monta Z. Briant puts on a super-fun sign language performance for babies through preschoolers. Includes songs, fingerplays, books, fun toys and props, and bubbles!

Yoga Storytime, Monday, June 12 & 26 at 10:30 a.m., Stretch both your body and your mind in this unique program that combines stories, songs and simple yoga poses. Families enjoy healthy fun and bonding. Please bring your own mat.

STEAM2 Academy, Tuesday, June 13 at 3:00 p.m., This month’s theme is the Science of Fairy Tales

Brass Trinity: Tales of a Trio Family Concert, Saturday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m., This lively trio of musicians introduces students to the sights, sounds and sensations of the brass family of instruments. Students will hear a variety of music ranging from medieval fanfares to the familiar music of Star Wars.

Paws to Read, Monday, June 19 at 4:30 p.m., Practice reading out loud to a furry friend! Certified therapy dogs provided by Love on a Leash, San Diego Central Chapter

Sparkles the Clown, Tuesday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m., Sparkles kicks off our Summer Reading Event Series with a fun magic and bubble show!

Singalong with Miss Kim, Tuesday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m., Enjoy a sing-along concert of favorite children’s songs with Miss Kim!
