LWSD 31-Day Challenge #17: Eat More Fruits and Vegetables!

Share

From Live Well San Diego:

Eating healthy means filling half of your plate with fruits and vegetables to get the vitamins, minerals, fiber and nutrients your body needs to be healthy. All your food and beverage choices count.

Here are three key steps to healthier eating:

  • Eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables.
  • Reduce sugar consumption.
  • Choose water over sports drinks or carbonated beverages.

MyPlate has a guide to help you stay on track and make healthier food choices. You can still make the same foods you normally do, just in a healthier way. MyPlate also has Daily Food Plans that show you the right amount of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins and dairy to eat.

Make healthy eating fun by taking a cooking class with Live Well San Diego Recognized Partner Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center. Their Salsa and Salsa Cooking Class will be held Saturday, January 21st where you will learn to wow your friends with new, tasty recipes and salsa moves.

At this class you will:

  • Harvest produce from the garden
  • Make a variety of salsas and tacos
  • Learn basic salsa dance moves
  • Take home produce from the garden
