LWSD 31-Day Challenge #16: Get Involved!

Share

From Live Well San Diego:

Newly appointed Community Service Officer Brandon Broaddus, SDPD, introduces himself to the University City community at the January meeting at the Library.

Ever wonder how big things get done? They take ideas, planning, communication, collaboration and partnerships.

But most of all, they take leadership and participation from residents and local organizations.

There are many ways that you can get involved:

  • Join University City Community Association (UCCA) and attend monthly meetings to network with other community leaders*
  • Volunteer to use your time and talents to help others and the environment
  • Join a Community Leadership Team to share your input with community leaders and local organizations
  • Participate in an Intergenerational Council to help connect youth to senior mentors
  • Sign up for a Resident Leadership Academy to advocate for positive change in your neighborhood

Looking for a specific event to get involved in? Sign up for the annual WeAllCount Annual Homeless Census planned for Friday, January 27, 2017.

This Point-in-Time Count provides a snapshot of who is homeless on a given night. The information gathered is used to plan local homeless assistance systems, to tailor programs to meet existing needs and to raise public awareness of homelessness. Learn more about volunteering for WeAllCount at http://www.rtfhsd.org/volunteer/.
