My husband and I have been residents of University City for 5 years and could not be happier here.

For the last several years my husband, Iraj Hashemzadeh, and our friend and neighbor, Noel Durkin have competed in the San Diego Senior Games.

The Senior Games are open to people over the age of 50 and are held in different parts of California as well as across the US.

The 2016 San Diego Senior Games were in September at Mesa College. On September 18th, Iraj (age 76) earned a Gold medal in both the 50 and 100 meter dash. Noel Durkin (age 82) won a Gold in the Javelin.

We have found that Iraj and Noel have inspired people to be active at any age.

Editor’s note: UCCA congratulates both senior athletes.
