Celebrating DiversityThe Doyle Park and Recreation Council is pleased to announce the inaugural “Celebrating Diversity at Doyle” event. The event will be held Saturday, September 24, 3:00-5:00 PM, at the Doyle Community Park (8175 Regents Road) and will focus on the country of India and its culture.

This event complements the popular International Festival hosted by Doyle Elementary each summer. With its close proximity to the University of California, San Diego, which attracts students and talent from around the world, the community surrounding Doyle Park is extremely diverse.

The Doyle Rec Council aims to celebrate this diversity to unify residents and build a better sense of community. The timing of the event near the beginning of the school year was intentional, and the council hopes “Celebrating Diversity at Doyle” can serve as a nice welcome to the new students and families of North University City. Each year will feature a different country and culture.

A main feature of the September 24 event will be a performance by Divya Devaguptapu, a senior disciple of the world-renowned Dhananjayans from India. She is an internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer. Divya’s performance will be accompanied with arts and crafts highlighting Indian culture.

Partners and vendors interested in participating in the event are invited to contact the Doyle Rec Council via their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/DoyleRecCouncil.

This event is free and open to the public. It is made possible with support from Supervisor Dave Roberts and the County of San Diego’s Community Enhancement Program.
