Programming for Adults and Seniors

Library on GovernorQi Gong (Chi Gong) is a simple preventative health method of relaxing and harmonizing the body. These gentle exercises are suitable for any age and health condition. Every Monday @ 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Zumba for Special Needs and Beginners led by Lis Garces (licensed Zumba instructor since 2007), Founder/Director of the Juan Carlos Organization providing dance therapy exercise for the Special Needs Community. Every Monday @ 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Chair Sit Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting in a chair or standing using a chair for support. Tuesday, September 6 & 20 @ 2:00 p.m.

Adult Yoga Gentle exercises to aid flexibility and improve concentration. Bring your own mat or towel. Every Thursday @ 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.

CERT Meeting educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area. Tuesday, September 6 @ 6:30 p.m.

Concert: The Bassett Brothers (Sean and Ian) are an identical twin guitar duo who have played together since the age of fourteen. Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical eras and spans to more contemporary genres like Rock, Blues, and Heavy Metal.  Wednesday, September 7 @ 6:30 p.m.

Accordion Club meets the second and fourth Saturday of each month. Saturday, September 10 & 24 @ 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

End Peripheral Neuropathy pain. Presented by: The Foundation for Wellness Professionals, a non-profit. Tuesday, September 13 @ 12:00

Covered California: Q & A and updates. Tuesday, September  13 @ 2:00 p.m. Join experts from the Family Health Center of San Diego to find out more about how the Affordable Healthcare Act works and how to enroll.

University City Community Association meets monthly on the 2nd Wednesday. This is a community meeting featuring updates from law enforcement, fire-rescue service, legislative and other community leaders. All are welcome.  Wednesday, September 14 @ 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Latin Dance Class – Learn the basics of bachata, merengue and salsa. Help integrate different parts of your brain through the coordination, rhythm and strategy of dance. Wednesday, September 21 @ 6:30 p.m.

Cal Coast Estate Planning. Learn what you need to know to protect yourself and your loved ones. Tuesday, September 27 @ 2:00 p.m.

The UC Book Club will be discussing The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Wednesday, September 28 @ 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Book Sale, sponsored by Friends of the Library. Thursday, September 29  from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Friday, September 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, October 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Programming for Children

Preschool Storytime for Kids; stories, crafts, finger plays and songs. Every Thursday @ 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Makerspace Craft Station is available in the Children’s Area with a different craft each week. All week long (Monday – Saturday).

Art with Elizabeth, where school aged children can learn how to draw and do other art projects. Tuesday, August 2 @ 5:00 p.m.

Programming for Tweens/Teens

Kendama Club Test your skills against others, learn new tricks and just have FUN!!! Every Wednesday @ 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. 

Video Game Fridays, Wii gaming with your friends, Get your game on! Every Friday @ 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Teen Writing Club will talk about different techniques to improve your writing. Wednesday, September 14 @ 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Button Making craft, make a button of your favorite character. Wednesday, September 21 @ 2:00 p.m.
