A new course and plenty of enhancements will greet participants in the third Live Well San Diego 5K that takes place on Saturday, July 30. The run/walk benefits the lifesaving work of the San Diego Blood Bank.
After two years at Liberty Station, the race now starts and ends at the Waterfront Park that surrounds the historic County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway.
The event will feature a Discovery Expo with interactive exhibits and demonstrations that is open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is free to attend.
There will be a Kids’ Zone with an inflatable obstacle course, balloon artists and a kids’ drum circle. A Pet Zone for leashed pets will feature over 15 pet-related exhibitors including on-site adoption opportunities. An Innovation Zone will have games and information highlighting some of San Diego’s health and innovation leaders.
Music performances will entertain and fitness instructions will lead dance and Zumba classes throughout the event. Free drinks and snack will be available as well as exhibits by County departments and Live Well San Diego partners.
Registration can be done online. Adult registration is $35 and children ages 12 and under as of race day are $25. All participants will receive a commemorative Live Well San Diego 5K T-shirt, a finisher medal, gift bag and race chip timing for runners and walkers that finish in the first 60 minutes.
If you can’t make the event and still want to contribute to the San Diego Blood Bank, you can become a virtual runner for $25. Virtual runners receive a commemorative T-shirt and runners’ bib.
