I-5/Genesee Avenue Interchange Project: The Interstate 5 (I-5)/Genesee Avenue Interchange Project will replace the existing six lane Genesee Avenue overpass with a ten lane structure that will accommodate current and future traffic demands in the job intensive community.
The project is an integral piece of the broader improvements planned along I-5 in the North Coast Corridor.
Along with the replacement of the overcrossing, the project will also widen the freeway access ramps, add an auxiliary lane in the northbound direction on I-5 between Genesee Avenue and Roselle Street, and construct a new, separated bicycle/pedestrian path.
By providing links to transportation, employment centers, hospitals, and UC San Diego, the project will greatly improve the movement of people and goods through the area.
