Home of Squad 56The Fire-Rescue Department, Squad 56, and fire department paramedic units do not charge for their services for medical incidents.

The private ambulance service (AMR, Rural Metro) definitely does.

Those who receive an invoice for services after a medical call should contact the issuing private ambulance company for specific details.

For a fire, police, or medical emergency, call 9-1-1 to activate the emergency response system.

The dispatcher will send the appropriate response team based on the nature of the emergency.

Staffing for Squad56 consists of a two person crew: a fire captain and a firefighter/paramedic.

If Squad 56 is dispatched to a medical emergency, it will be joined by a fire engine from a nearby station to meet the San Diego County requirement for two paramedics at the scene of all medical emergencies.
