UC Del Sol 2016 1UC Del Sol 2016 2UC Del Sol’s Opening Day was again a success, as the league enjoyed a day of fun and games.

San Diego County Supervisor Dave Roberts was the guest speaker. Roberts’ office awarded UC Del Sol with an $8,000 grant last May through the Neighborhood Reinvestment Program. There is a link to more details on the program on the league’s website at www.ucdelsol.com.

The funds were used to buy a new pitching machine, cage netting, bow nets and other gear in addition to offsetting spring uniform costs for all players.

Supervisor Roberts judged our banner contest and 10u team Queen Bees was selected for their homemade banner. Criteria was based on creativity and team enthusiasm. Among the three homemade banners, Supervisor Roberts chose the Queen Bees in support of another county initiative that is supporting the establishment of beehives throughout the district. Queen Bee mom Jamie Stoppenhagen created the banner.
