It may only be March, but be sure to mark those August calendars for a new, earlier start for the 2016-17 school year.
San Diego Unified School District will begin classes on August 29, a week earlier than the district’s traditional, post-Labor Day opening. Classes will end on June 14, 2017; in 2016, classes end June 21st.
Starting school a week earlier was requested by parents and guardians and has been approved by the Board of Education. Benefits include better coordination with college applications; Advanced Placement, SAT, ACT and other college-level tests for high school students; and coordination with other districts in the region.
