Robert Hickey, J.D., San Diego County Prosecutor, will describe San Diego’s criminal street-gang subculture, driven by a reverence of violence, and shielded by a code of silence. He will explain how law enforcement uses this subculture and other tools to combat gang crime.

Robert P. Hickey has been a prosecutor for over 18 years. He was the first San Diego prosecutor to use state wiretaps in gang murder investigations and has led more than 12 gang and 200 drug-trafficking wiretaps. Among his awards for investigations and prosecutions are the prestigious FBI Director’s Letter, the 2006 San Diego Prosecutor’s Outstanding Achievement Award, and the 2011 San Diego County Prosecutor of the Year Award.
