From Union Tribune Rapid Response TeamAs announced by SDFD Battalion Chief Tricia Pollett at the July UCCA meeting, San Diego Fire Department is assigning a fast response squad to south University City.

From the Union Tribune: South UC will get San Diego’s second “fast response squad,” an experimental effort to quicken emergency responses in poorly served areas, Fire Chief Javier Mainar said. The two-man unit will start operating in late September or October when the city is scheduled to receive a specially designed vehicle, which is essentially a reconfigured pickup truck that city officials call a “mini fire engine.”
